Australia has been hit by one of the worst bushfire seasons which has led to several fatalities, mass evacuations and significant loss of property.
There have been various initiatives put in place across cricket, including donations from players in the BBL for sixed hit and wickets taken. Also Australian team auctioning off signed shirts from the Boxing Day Test which had raised over AUD $40,000. CA has also announced that the ODIs against NZ in March will be used to raise money.
Cricket Australia chief executive Kevin Roberts is also open to the idea of staging a charity match to raise funds as the natural disaster continues to spread across large areas.
